The Amazon’s rich biodiversity and the abundant ecosystem services it provides to its peoples are increasingly vulnerable to the negative impacts of expanding mega infrastructure projects and extractive and agricultural industries. Mapping areas earmarked for oil, hydrocarbon, and mineral extraction, as well as the construction of roads and railways, offers valuable insights into the strong correlation between the expansion of these mega-scale projects and deforestation.
